  • Autoocupació leads a volunteer program to support entrepreneurs to face the COVID-19 crisis’ challenges.
  • The SOS Mentoring initiative will save 1,000 companies and 5,000 jobs saving more than 100M to the Government.

Spain is facing an alarming situation due to the COVID-19 crisis characterized by the paralysis of economic activity, the constant change, the great uncertainty and the information overload difficult to assimilate. This situation makes decision-taking extremely difficult, especially for entrepreneurs, self-employed workers and micro-enterprises, who do not have the resources that large corporations have to deal with it.

That is why Autoocupació promotes SOS Mentoring, a volunteer program in which experienced professionals help entrepreneurs take the necessary decisions to deal with this emergency situation, containing the impact of the crisis, ensuring the continuity of this companies and maintaining their employment.

The program’s mentors are businessmen and women, professional, and CEOs who have already overcome more than one crisis, and who are committed to sharing their time and experience to help saving businesses and jobs, without expecting anything in return.

According to Yolanda Tarango, mentor at Autoocupació awarded last year as the second best mentor of the world by Youth Business International, “these are times to show solidarity, accompanying people to continue their companies and jobs created and helping them to think on how to take advantage of the new opportunities that will come”.

The beneficiaries are entrepreneurs, self-employed workers and managers of micro-enterprises who face an emergency situation and who need support to safeguard their activity.

SOS Mentoring is a personalized accompaniment process aimed at diagnosing the situation, evaluating the alternatives of action, taking the best decisions and implementing them. In no case is it a technical support for the processing of governmental aids: these needs are referred to specialist professionals.

The Mentoring sessions will be conducted through online meetings, with a weekly or fortnightly basis for 1 to 3 months, always according to the needs of the beneficiaries and the availability of the volunteers.

The voluntary nature of the mentors allows the free service for users and its scalability.

Autoocupació is committed to saving 1,000 companies and 5,000 jobs over the next few months with the support of 500 volunteer mentors, saving more than 100M euros in public administrations.
