Global Entrepreneurship Congress 2023

September 19, 2023

This week, Melbourne hosts over 4,000 entrepreneurs and experts from more than 200 countries.

This week, Melbourne hosts the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, the most important event in the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. Organized annually since 2009 in different cities around the world, the Global Entrepreneurship Congress brings together over four thousand representatives from more than 200 countries for four days with the aim of creating a single global entrepreneurial ecosystem, a worldwide community of entrepreneurs and the stakeholders who support them. This annual event offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to share their new business models and connect with mentors and investors who can help them scale. It also promotes connections among leaders of entrepreneurial ecosystems and government representatives to share new intervention models that foster entrepreneurship and remove barriers to incentivize and facilitate business creation. This year, the program features activities dedicated to diverse topics such as new business models derived from artificial intelligence, entrepreneurial initiatives to combat climate change, opportunities for entrepreneurship in space, building local entrepreneurial communities, entrepreneurship education, and equal opportunities for entrepreneurship, among others. Delegates will also have the opportunity to experience firsthand the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Melbourne, one of the most dynamic in the world. Within the framework of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, several other events are also held, such as the Global Entrepreneurship Network Annual Assembly, which brings together leaders of entrepreneurial ecosystems from different countries; the Startup Nations Summit, a meeting of national and local political representatives responsible for business creation; the Global Business Angels Network Summit, which gathers private investor networks from around the world; and the Compass Awards Ceremony, which recognizes the most dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Autoocupació leads the Spanish delegation

Once again, Autoocupació leads the Spanish delegation, one of the largest in the European Union, with the participation of leading Spanish institutions such as Deusto, Leitat, and Business Angels Network Catalunya, as well as entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and researchers. Perhaps the time has come to energize institutions and propose hosting an edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Barcelona, showcasing our ecosystem and our way of understanding entrepreneurship to the world: I am what I want to be!
