Grants to boost the video game sector

A new grant is being launched to promote projects in the field of video games that have a defined timeframe, are economically identifiable and distinguishable within the company’s activities, and consist of the development, production, publishing, distribution, marketing, or dissemination of video games.

Beneficiaries

Applications may be submitted by private companies, whether individuals or legal entities, whose corporate purpose is the development, production, publishing, distribution, marketing, or dissemination of video games. Applications may also be submitted by business groups formed as temporary joint ventures (TJV).

Requirements

Company requirements
  • Have proven economic and technical solvency.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the activity.
  • Participate at their own risk in the project for which the grant is intended.
Project requirements
  • Project expenditure must be incurred between the year prior to the grant being awarded and the last working day of June of the year following the award.
  • Have a distribution, marketing, or exploitation plan that includes an actual income amount.
  • Have a set commercial launch date within the period specified in the corresponding call for applications.
  • Video game development must be completed within a maximum period of 18 months from the date the grant is awarded for projects with an accepted budget of one million euros or less, and within a maximum period of 30 months for projects with an accepted budget exceeding one million euros.

Amount and deadlines

Repayable contributions are financial aids in the form of “co-financing” that allow the company to have upfront funding for a cultural project.
