Networking that transcends borders

2 October 2017

  • Autoocupació and Youth Business Spain continue to boost networking and network collaboration during September.
  • The meetings focused on sharing ideas, projects, and new perspectives on entrepreneurship.
During September, three individuals from different countries took advantage of their stay in Barcelona to learn about Autoocupació, the local partner of Youth Business Spain (YBS), and some entrepreneurial projects promoted by the foundation. The first two were Adam Bradford and Jordan A. Swain, from London and Los Angeles respectively, and the third was Natália Velázquez, from Argentina. Jordan and Adam, co-founders of Bradford&Swain, visited Autoocupació during their world tour. The two entrepreneurs define their company as a hybrid social enterprise aiming to generate impact and relevance for social causes worldwide.

During the meeting, they not only learned about the projects carried out by YBS and Autoocupació, but also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with entrepreneurs Joan Rabat and Nil Espinar, creators of the Tickdi App, and their mentor, Miquel Martret, who shared firsthand experience within the mentoring service. The second visitor, Natália Velázquez, operations and communications director of the Fundación Impulsar and a member of the Youth Business network in Argentina, also took the opportunity to visit Autoocupació during her trip to Europe. The Fundación Impulsar promotes businesses and entrepreneurial projects for young people aged 18 and over, through 3 stages: recruitment, economic guidance, and mentoring. As YBS explains: “We have been able to share a fruitful discussion where the power of being part of a large global network has become evident, a network where a group of people help other people to make a living from what they love and generate profit from it.” Typically, Autoocupació and YBS promote networking spaces with the aim of fostering collaboration and promoting contact among entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors, either among themselves or with organizations and companies in the world of entrepreneurship and self-employment.
