It Has Never Been Easier to Start a Business… Nor More Important to Stand Out

26 June 2026

Creating a website, designing a brand, writing content for social media, developing a business plan, or analyzing a market. Just a few years ago, these tasks required time, specialized expertise, and often a significant investment. Today, thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), a single person can accomplish them in a matter of hours. Technology is removing many of the barriers that have traditionally made entrepreneurship more difficult. It has never been easier to launch a business. But this new reality raises an important question: if everyone has access to the same tools, what will make one business stand out from the rest?

When Tools Are No Longer the Competitive Advantage

Today, any entrepreneur can generate content, automate tasks, or gather information quickly and efficiently. This represents a major opportunity, especially for self-employed professionals, freelancers, and small businesses.

However, when everyone has access to the same tools, those tools no longer provide a competitive advantage on their own. The difference will not lie in who uses AI, but in how they use it. Technology can help execute tasks, but it cannot replace vision, judgment, or the ability to build trust.

In this new landscape, success will depend less on having access to the best technology and more on knowing how to use it to create real value.

The Skills That Will Shape the Future

As technology becomes more accessible, human skills are becoming increasingly important. Creativity, critical thinking, communication, empathy, and adaptability will become even more essential for entrepreneurial success. In this regard, technology and social impact expert Albert Cañigueral reminds us that “autonomy does not mean isolation.” He argues that one of the key competencies for entrepreneurs will be the ability to build a “work crew”—a trusted network of professionals with whom to share knowledge, opportunities, and mutual support.

Working effectively with AI will also require new skills. It is less about mastering complex tools and more about understanding their potential and integrating them strategically into everyday work. Asking the right questions, interpreting information, and making sound decisions will remain essential, because while AI can accelerate many tasks, it is entrepreneurs who identify opportunities, define strategies, and set the direction of their businesses.

This perspective aligns with an idea that Albert Cañigueral frequently emphasizes when discussing technology’s impact on the workplace: “We have agency; we have the ability to influence how technology affects our work and our industries.” AI may transform the way we work, but the decisions about how we use it remain in human hands.

The Future Is Still Human

In a world where technology is accessible to everyone, success will increasingly depend on the ability to stand out. Because while it has never been easier to start a business, it has also never been more important to discover what makes us unique. And it is precisely that uniqueness that allows us to say: “I am who I choose to be.”
